The two stage redevelopment of the outdoor playspace has transformed the external areas into a natural setting to meet the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of babies through to three year olds.

Sandpits, digging patches, trickle streams, veggie gardens, trees and shrub planting allow children to get in touch with nature and develop their cognitive behaviour. Incorporation of secret trails, bike paths, stepping stones, arbours, mazes and clatter bridges provide interesting access for children to explore the playspace. Timber decks, stages and open grassed areas allow for unstructured play including role play and performances. Musical, sound and art elements are scattered throughout the playspace to add another dimension to the play experience.

The Centre, parents and most importantly the children have been delighted with the new playspace and it will be interesting to see the evolution of the playspace in years to come as the Centre appropriates the spaces and trees and plants grow and flourish.
