Overview

ACLA partnered with Ric McConaghy to design the replacement tree house at Alma Park. The project demonstrates the possibility of building structures within the drip-line of mature trees without adverse effect. Whilst the structure is not connected to the Moreton Bay Fig, it was critical for the design of the new tree house to appear physically attached and offer a variety of new play experiences.

The tree house wraps around and under a number of lateral branches to allow children to subtly interact with the tree. The lower platform is accessed via a ramp and a spiral stairway leads to the upper platform which features a number of play elements and activity panels. The tree house also includes movement activated sounds.
