Al Siratt College Landscape Master Plan

Project Specifics

Location: Epping

Consultancy Services: Schematic Design, 3D Conceptualisation

ACLA’s concept for the transformation of the transitional spaces between Al Siraat College’s buildings is rooted in the site’s context. The grounds include a number of fine specimens of mature River Red Gums which are central to the design, protected, appreciated and highlighted with indigenous planting. Additional infill tree planting also strengthens the site’s existing wind break.

Emphasising smooth and efficient circulation and access between buildings the design subtly incorporates water management in the form of planted swales, transected by bridges, to deal with the site’s poor drainage. Inspiration was also gathered from an existing historically significant dry stone wall which needed to be partially removed. It was envisioned the materials from the wall could be reworked into a sinuous sculptural element.

The concept design also accommodates spaces to fulfil the school’s programmatic needs including a formal assembly area, outdoor classroom, social gathering spaces and a new playground.
